ACTIVITIES

The SNA elections for the academic year 2021-22 were held on 06-03-2021. With 22 nominations filed against 11 posts from all the four B.Sc (N) batches and three GNM Batches, ballot box was prepared. All the students casted their votes by dropping ballot papers into the ballot box.

There were 11 posts offered with 22 nominations from all the batches of B.Sc (N) and GNM.

Counting of the votes was done by SNA advisor and SNA Co-advisor confidentially and the winners were elected based on the number of votes received for respective posts by the nominated candidates.

Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Institute of Nursing organized a 2 day Bangalore to Mangalore tour to,provide its teaching and non-teaching staff members an enriching experience. Twenty staff members were a part of this tour which commenced on 6/3/2021 at 4.00 pm and lasted till 8/3/2021. They visited St. Mary’s Island, Malpe beach and Sri Krishna Temple, Udupi.

Dr. B. R. Ambedkar Institute of Nursing welcomed our new principal Prof. Sheela A.J. Williams on 8/3/2021 at 9.00am and madam was greeted by Sri.V.S.Kuber, Chairman, Dr.B.R.A.I.N and Ex-Principal Dr.(Prof.) Thressiamma.P.M. That day was marked as International Women’s Day followed by sumptuous lunch.

Women’s day was celebrated on 8.03.2021. A health education campaign was organized by Obstetrics and Gynecological Nursing Department at Siddharth School and PU College, Lingarajpuram at 2.00pm and the topic discussed was on PCOD and its Prevention among higher primary school children by using LCD, charts and flashcards by the 4th year B.Sc. Nursing students. Organized for Health Education and was given to 1st year B.Sc. Nursing students and 1st year GNM students of our college at Seminar Hall and concluded by 4pm.

World Tuberculosis Day was observed on 24.03.2021 at Female Medical Ward, Dr.B.R.AMC&H . The programme commenced at 2.00 pm and unveiling the theme-“The Clock is Ticking –End To TB” was done by Dr.Devanath, RMO, Dr.(Prof.)Thressiamma.P.M, Ex-Principal and Mrs. Lincy George, Vice Principal of Dr.B.R.A.I.N. Deputy Nursing Superintendent and Nursing Staffs of Dr.B.R.AMC&H participated. Role play and health education campaign was carried out by 3rd year B.Sc.Nursing students to patient care takers of Female Medical Ward. Poster presentation competition was held and was participated by 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th year B.Sc Nursing students.3rd year students were announced as winners and 4th year B.Sc.Nursing Students were the runners. The programme was organized by Medical Surgical Nursing Department.

3rd year B.Sc.(N) student, Mr.Soumen Mahapatra got first prize for poster presentation on Tuberculosis day theme conducted by R.V.College of Nursing, Bengaluru.

International Adolescent Health Care Week was observed on 25.03.2021 at OPD auditorium, Dr.B.R.AMC&H. The programme commenced at 2.00pm and talk on Emotional Intelligence was presented by Dr.Ali Khwaja, Chairman, Banjara Academy, R.T. Nagar. 3rd B.Sc Nursing students performed a mime on self defense against sexual violence and the mime was coordinated by Pediatric Nursing Department.The session concluded by 4.00 pm with Vote of thanks.

Annual and Supplementary GNM exam commenced on 5/4/2021 and ended on 9/4/2021 with 6 colleges attached to Dr.B.R.Ambedkar Institute of Nursing and the Chief Superintendent was Prof .Sheela .A.J Williams and the exam was conducted in a smooth manner.

World Health Day was observed on 7.04.2021 at Dr.B.R.Ambedkar institute of nursing through a Walkathon Campaign which was inaugurated by Dr.Muniraju.S, Medical Superintendent, Dr.B.R.AMC&H. The programme commenced at 9am and unveiled the theme - “Building a fairer, healthier World for everyone” and ‘’Fit India Fit RGUHS” was mangmated done by Prof. Sheela .A.J.Williams, Principal Dr.B.R.A.I.N, Dr.(Prof) Thressiamma.P.M Ex-Principal program concluded by 10.30pm.

Dr.B.R.A.I.N organized annual sports and cultural meet on 30/03/2021, 31/03/ 2021 and 10/04/ 2021 respectively.

Indoor events:

On 30th march 2021 from 10am to 4pm various events like :

a) Mehendi: Mehendi competition was held on 30-03-2021.
Three participants were allowed from each Group. Total 12 students have participated Theme given was “Bridal Mehendi Design.”
Mrs.Preeti, a beautician from kothnur, Bangalore was invited as judge.
Based on the evaluation criteria winners were selected by the judge and the winner, runner and second runner are from the group,

b) Vegetable Carving: Vegetable Carving competition was held on 30-03-2021 in 1st B.Sc(n) class room hall. Three participants from each group were allowed. Total 12 students have participated.Mr.Arun Kumar, Lecturer, Medical Surgical Nursing Department has judged the competition based on evaluation criteria.

c) Painting: Painting competition was held on 30.03.2021 in the common hall.

d) Hair Styling: Hair Styling was held On 30-03-2021.
Three participants were allowed from each Group.
Theme given was “bridal hair style.”

e) Wealth Out Of Waste: Wealth Out Of Waste was conducted on 31-03-21.
Three participants from each group were allowed. Total 12 students have participated Mrs.Lincy George, Vice Principal, Professor and HOD Medical Surgical Nursing Department & Mrs.Jamuna P.P, Professor and HOD, OBG Nursing Department has judged the competition based on evaluation criteria.

f) Flower Bouquet Making: Flower Bouquet Making competition was held on 30.03.2021.
Three participants from each group were allowed. Total 12 students have participated Mrs.Sophia.G, Asst professor, Medical Surgical Nursing Department has judged the competition based on evaluation criteria.

g) Face Painting: Face painting was held on 31.03.2021.
Three participants from each group were allowed in Face painting competition. Total 12 students have participated.
Theme given was Cartoon characters and based on evaluation criteria, two Judges namely Mrs Aruna Mary.C and Mrs Sibi Raichel Baby have judged the face paintings. Winners of the competition were from group:

Indoor Sports.
SNA sports competitions started with two indoor Games namely Chess competition and Carrom board competitions was conducted on 31-03-21

A. Carrom Board:
With the knockout rule four entries for single and two entries for doubles and Mixed doubles were allowed from each group.
Games were conducted and umpired by Mr. Arun Assistant lecturer department of medical Surgical Nursing.

B. Chess competition:
Was conducted on 31-03-21 with the knock out rule 4 competitors were allowed from each group.
Mr.Akash H A Professor , Department of Community Health Nursing has organized and umpired the competition.

Cultural Meet

Inauguration of cultural meet 2021 was formally held on 10/04/2021 at 11:00am in the quadrangle of Dr.B.R.A.I.N premises. The Chief guest for the Cultural Meet was Mr.Mimicry Gopi, a talented comedian and mimicry artist of kannada film industry.

Inauguration of the programme was started with an invocation song and inauguration was done by the chief guest and other respected dignitaries on the diaz by lighting the lamp. Following which Prof.Sheela Williams, Principal Dr.B.R.A.I.N addressed the gathering. The formal function was ended by felicitating the chief guest and with a vote of thanks.

From 12 pm cultural events like solo song, group song, solo dance, group dance and fashion show were conducted. Judges were invited from kannada dance industry.


Solo Singing

Solo song competitions wereheld on 10.04.2021 and categorized into regional and English languages.
Three participants from each group were allowed.
Former Principal Dr.P.M.Thressiamma, and Mrs.Rashmi Ramji, Lecturer, Medical Surgical Nursing Department were the Judges.
Based on the evaluation criteria winners were selected by the judges from the group.

Fashion Show competition held on 10.04.2021.One fashion show from each group was conducted. Total 04 fashion shows were performed.
Ms. Juanita Sharon, Speech therapist & Makeup artist Bengaluru.
And Ms. Harshita Williams, Model & Engineering Student Bengaluru were our special invitees and judges.
Based on the evaluation criteria winners were selected.

Ambedkar Jayanthi was observed with a silent prayer on 14.04.2021 at 10.00 am in Dr.B.R.Ambedkar Institute of Nursing quadrangle and garlanding of Dr.B.R.Ambedkar Statue was done by Sri.Radha Krishna, Chairman Dr.B.R.AMC.

Safe motherhood day program was carried out on 15.04.2021 at 2.00 pm in Seminar Hall. On behalf of the program, health education & role play was conducted by 3rd year B.Sc.(N) students at IPD & OPD of Dr. B.R.AMC&H. Dr. Vijaykumar C. R, Professor of obstetrics & gynecology of Dr. BRAMC& H was invited as the chief guest to give lecture on the importance of the day. Program began with inaugural by lighting the lamp, invocation song, welcome speech, lecture by chief guest, giving the memento to the chief guest as a token of appreciation. Health education was continued by the department of obstetrics & gynecological nursing faculties. Beneficiaries were 3rd year GNM & 4th year B.Sc.(N) students. Program ended at 4.00 pm with vote of thanks & national anthem.

Lecture cum Demonstration on Infection control practices was conducted on 19.04.2021 and organized by Medical Surgical Nursing Department at 11.00 am Dr.Mamatha, Microbiology Department, Dr.B.R.AMC taught regarding 11 moments of hand washing, Donning and Doffing of PPE and a preparedness programme for final year B.Sc.(N) and 3rd year GNM students for COVID ward postings and concluded by 1.00 pm.

GNM annual and supplementary results were announced on 24.04.2021. 79 students appeared for 1st yr GNM exam 14 students secured 1st class and 36 students pass class. Ten students appeared for 2nd yr GNM exam and 6 students secured pass class. Four students appeared for 3rd yr GNM exam and 3 students secured pass class.

Farewell function was organized for Dr.(Prof.) Thressiamma P.M, Ex-Principal, Dr.B.R.Ambedkar Institute of Nursing at seminar hall by 11.00 am with invocation song sung by Mrs.Channajamani, Asst.Librarian, welcome address by Mrs.Lincy George, VicePrincipal, Speech by Prof.Sheela A.J.Williams, Principal, Dr.B.R.Ambedkar Institute of Nursing. A video was played on memories of Dr.(Prof.) Thressiamma.P.M at Dr.B.R.A.I.N. Mrs.Annie Jose, Senior Librarian and Ms.Sheela.H.A,Asst.Lecturer shared their experiences with Dr.(Prof) Thressiamma.P.M. Exhortation speech by Dr.(Prof) Thressiamma .P.M Ex-Principal, Speech by Sri.V.S.Kuber, Chairman, Dr.B.R.Ambedkar Institute of Nursing followed by felicitation of Dr.(Prof.) Thressiamma .P.M and vote of thanks was delivered by Mrs.Sophia.G, Assoc.Professor, Medical Surgical Nursing Department Programme concluded at 1.00 PM.

On 12th May 2021 a webinar was organized on “Importance of nurses role in promoting health during pandemic”, through Zoom meeting by Dr.B.R.A.I.N. Webinar was started at 11.00 am with a virtual inauguration by Prof.Sheela.A.J.Williams, Principal, Dr.B.R.A.I.N.
Mrs.Anitha.V.Norohna, Assoc. Prof, JSS College of Nursing, Mysore has enlightened on the knowledge on Importance of nurses role in promoting health during pandemic.
Mr.Lokesha Narayanappa, Duty Nurse Manager, Nelson Hospital, Hamilton, New Zealand, delivered a lecture on “Care of Geriatric patients with Covid-19 infection”.
Mrs.Rincy Mathew, Registered Nurse, Health scope group, Knox Private Hospital, Melbourne, Australia has delivered a lecture on “Follow Up of patients with Covid19 infection”. Over 300 participants actively participated across the globe through facebook live and zoom platform.

On 13/05/2021 we observed the International Nurses Day, virtually at 11.00 am. The virtual celebration started with inauguration by Prof.Sheela.A.J.Williams, Principal, Ms. Anna Mariam, 2nd B.Sc. Nursing student sung the invocation song. Ms.Amritha Mukherjee, 3rd GNM student rendered a speech about Florence Nightingale the founder of modern nursing and her services, following which salutations were offered by teaching and non teaching staff.
A video on nurses dedication during pandemic was played.
Prof. Sheela A.J.Williams, Principal addressed the gathering virtually commemorating the birthday of Florence Nightingale on the occasion of International Nurses Day.
The virtual celebration ended with vote of thanks by Mrs.Shilgy Thomas, Lecturer, OBG Nursing Department at 12:30 pm.
